Cotterill SJ, Jones S, Walters RA, Horner P, Moss JD, McDonald AM On behalf of the CETL4HealthNE
Use of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) by healthcare professionals is becoming more widespread. However, relatively little is known about their potential to support undergraduate education or about using PDAs for wireless to access Web-based resources in this context.
A pilot study of the use of PDAs by medical students doing their clinical rotations at The James Cook University Hospital has been undertaken as part of the CETL4HealthNE programme. The study aims to evaluate the educational and support impact of the use of PDAs to provide students with wireless access to formulae, clinical guidelines, ePortfolios and other Web-based materials. Supervisors can sign-off procedures on the student
