ePortfolios for PDP

ePortfolios can be used to support personal development planning (PDP) and help satisfy the requirements for Progress Files. For example, many of the tools within our 'generic' ePortfolio have been designed to support PDP processes. This has been developed as part of an FDTL4 project which is integrating the ePortfolio & PDP with online curricula and virtual learning environments (VLEs). The project team now have 7 year experience of electronic support for PDP, including 2 earlier DFES funded Internet-PARs projects.

What is PDP ?
PDP is "a structured and supported process undertaken by an individual to reflect upon their own learning, performance and/or achievement and to plan for their personal, educational and career development" [QAA, 2001]

UK GRAD have recently published: A national review of emerging practice on the use of Personal Development Planning for postgraduate researchers (2004)

The Burges Report (2004) makes recommendations on the measuring, recording and presenting students' achievement - following the White Paper, 'The Future of Higher Education'.
